About Us

Dar-e-Zehra, an Islamic organization and center, is a not-for-profit 501C (3) Charitable Organization with Tax exemption status. Dar-e-Zehra serves Shia Muslim community across the Tristate region including Greater Cincinnati, Greater Dayton and surrounding cities in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Shia Muslims of all ethnicities and backgrounds gather here to fulfil their religious obligations, socialize and learn.

The roots of Dar-e-Zehra trace back to 2003 when a small group of community members decided to establish a Shia based Islamic Organization and center in the Tristate area. As the community grew, most religious programs and activities were conducted at community members’ houses. In 2015, the organization was incorporated in the state of Ohio and a center was established in a rental place in Mason downtown area. The Mason center served as a base for bringing new members under the Dar-e-Zehra platform and allowed the conducting of live programs of Muharram, Ramadhan and other important Islamic events. It also established our first Islamic weekend school for children..

Most importantly, it helped solidify the organization’s governance structure and galvanized the community to establish a permanent facility. In the fall of 2019, a residential property measuring 2.3 acres in West Chester was purchased. After undergoing the process of re-zoning, renovations and expansions, the current facility was established, turning a long-held dream into a beautiful reality when Dar-e-Zehra Islamic Center opened in the summer of 2021.
